No Glory in War’s Alternative World War I Day School, Saturday 15 November 2014 in Manchester

The event, organised by the No Glory in War (Manchester) group and supported by Manchester Metropolitan University is designed to appeal to activists, researchers and anyone else interested in exploring different narratives of World War I, and in sharing knowledge, views and ideas.

The organisers are pleased to welcome Stops the War Coaltion’s Lindsey German, who will discuss Women and World War I, and Prof Karen Hunt from Keele University, who will talk about World War I, Food and Austerity. Workshops on the day include research on conscientious objectors and other World War I-related themes, building an anti-war movement today,  and lessons from World War I.

The event builds on No Glory in War’s previous activities, which included the1914 Peace Rally pop-up street theatre to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the mass peace rallies which took place around the country in opposition to Britain joining the World War I.
